Whole-school Worship is an important part of our pupils’ and staffs’ spiritual development. In these acts of Collective Worship, the word of God is explored and brought to life in a way which is relevant, relatable, and interesting for all.
COLLECTIVE WORSHIP IS INCLUSIVE: Holy Trinity is a school with a diverse pupil and staff population with many people of different faiths and none. Christian values are taught through the lens of Bible stories or Christian teaching, as well as through stories from other religions and cultures. The diversity of our school is reflected in the appreciation of major festivals in other religions and help us to contextualise the values we learn about. |

COLLECTIVE WORSHIP IS INVITATIONAL: Collective Worship is not and cannot be a time for forced words or actions. Pupils and staff are welcome to use the space and time that an act of Collective Worship provides to engage with themselves spiritually. Children and staff are invited to pray and sing and can choose to do so freely. |
|
COLLECTIVE WORSHIP IS INSPIRATIONAL: Our LIGHT Values aren’t just ideas at Holy Trinity, but fundamental parts of how to live a good life. People leading Collective Worship, whether adults or children, work hard to make sure that everyone is engaged in the message being given and can see how it relates to their lives. Each act of Collective Worship ends with a mission – a call-to-action to inspire pupils and adults to live out what they see and hear. |
Our Vision & LIGHT Values
Each half-term in Collective Worship is inspired by and focusses on our vision or one of our LIGHT Values. This is to help our children and adults in school to understand each one and how to live it out in our lives both in and out of school.

Worship Leaders - Pupil Ministry
At Holy Trinity, we maintain, and develop a Pupil Ministry in the service of God, and the community we serve.
This group is called Worship Leaders and is made up of pupils from Year 5, who have benefitted from many years of collective worship, reflection, and have the knowledge and skills to present the message to other children throughout school.
Each week, Worship Leaders lead Collective Worship themselves in classrooms across school. Pupil worship leaders receive training from staff and support throughout their time in the role. It is a special role to have and has a number of responsibilities:
Major Festivals & Seasons of the Church Year
Major festivals in the Christian calendar are an important part of Collective Worship at Holy Trinity and serve to mark the year as it passes, as focal points for liturgical seasons and as special opportunities to experience worship in a different setting or through a different lens.
We have a special relationship with our parish church, St. Jude's and Holy Trinity, and often celebrate major festivals in Church, in the school hall or in the school playgrounds. We observe festivals and major times in the year and pupils have an understanding of the liturgical calendar and its seasons.
These include:
- Harvest festival
- Remembrance Day
- Advent & Christmas
- Candlemas
- Lent & Easter
Open the Book
Every half-term, we are very lucky to welcome the team from St. John's Warley, who tell us a story from the Bible acted out, involving many of the children in the acting! It is a special and engaging way for children and adults to reflect on the story and what we can learn from it, whatever our faith or none.
